Actor Kalidas Jayaram, son of renowned Malayalam actors Jayaram and Parvathy, married his longtime girlfriend, model Tarini Kalingarayar, in a traditional wedding ceremony at the Guruvayur temple on Sunday. Both Kalidas and Tarini looked radiant in matching red traditional attire.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, who currently serves as the Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and shares a close friendship with the family. Kerala’s Minister for Public Works and Tourism, PA Mohammed Riyas, and his wife Veena, the daughter of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, were also present at the occasion.
Following the ceremony, Kalidas and Tarini thanked the media and their well-wishers for their love and blessings. The Guruvayur temple holds special sentimental value for the Jayaram family, as it was the same place where Kalidas’ parents, Jayaram and Parvathy, married on November 7, 1992. At the time, their wedding attracted a large crowd, marking a significant moment in Malayalam cinema.
Jayaram shared his joy with the media after his son’s wedding, expressing gratitude for the immense support from fans and well-wishers. He fondly recalled that, just as people gathered to celebrate his wedding 32 years ago, they came to witness Kalidas and Tarini’s special day. “We are truly happy. I am very delighted that Kannan (Kalidas) and Taru tied the knot in front of Guruvayoorappan,” Jayaram said.
Earlier this year, Kalidas’ sister, Malavika Jayaram, also married her fiancé Navaneeth Gireesh at the same temple, making 2024 a year of joyous celebrations for the family.
Tarini Kalingarayar, originally from Masinagudi in Tamil Nadu, was the third runner-up in the Miss Universe India 2021 competition. Although a graduate in visual communication, she pursued modeling and has worked with several brands. Tarini and Kalidas had been in a relationship for a long time before getting engaged last November.
