Ukraine Strikes Russian Port and Oil Depot in Retaliatory Attacks

Ukraine launched a series of attacks on Russian territory, targeting a port on the Azov Sea and an oil depot in the Bryansk region. The missile strike on Taganrog port, about 750 km south, caused damage to an industrial facility and 14 vehicles, according to the acting governor of Rostov region. Meanwhile, drones struck an oil depot in Bryansk, causing a massive fire. Russian media reported that a refinery was also hit, with flames visible from the explosion.

Russia’s defense ministry claimed to have destroyed 14 Ukrainian drones in the overnight strike on Bryansk, where an unspecified production facility briefly caught fire. Ukraine’s military confirmed the oil depot attack, while Russian authorities stated that the Druzhba pipeline, which transports oil from Siberia to Europe, was unaffected, ensuring no disruption to Kazakhstan’s oil shipments to Europe.

The attacks come amid rising tensions between Russia and the West as Ukraine has increasingly used Western weapons, such as US ATACMS missiles, to strike Russian energy and military targets. In response, Russia has ramped up its own missile attacks, including the use of hypersonic missiles. Analysts predict that the war, now entering a critical phase, could escalate further, potentially leading to more widespread conflict.
