Dubai has officially announced January 1, 2025, as a public holiday for government employees to celebrate the New Year. The Human Resources Department confirmed that regular working hours will resume on Thursday, January 2. However, employees in essential public service roles or shift-based positions are exempt from this holiday.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources earlier stated that this holiday applies to both public and private sectors across the UAE, marking the first public holiday of 2025. Residents can look forward to a total of 13 public holidays next year, including notable differences in the Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule. Cities such as Ajman and Sharjah have also announced the same New Year holiday for their government employees.
This announcement reflects the UAE’s commitment to harmonizing public and private sector holidays, ensuring an equitable work-life balance for its residents.
