Winter’s arrival has caused a significant drop in temperatures across many parts of Oman, with some areas experiencing temperatures below 1 degree Celsius. On January 4, 2025, temperatures in the mountainous region of ‘Alse’ in Musandam Governorate were reported at 0.9 degrees Celsius, with other places also experiencing chilly conditions. According to local resident Abdullah Al-Shehi, the cold temperatures have been especially noticeable in the northern regions.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed the temperature drops in various areas over the past 24 hours. The agency reported that locations such as Zaykh recorded 3.1°C, Mukshin 4.0°C, Almassuna 5.6°C, Tumraith 7.0°C, Mahda 7.8°C, and Yangul 8.3°C, indicating a widespread cold spell throughout the country.
