Boby Chemmanur, a prominent businessman arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in relation to a sexual harassment case filed by Malayalam actor Honey Rose, will be presented in court today. The charges stem from claims that Chemmanur made inappropriate remarks toward the actor, leading to charges under Section 75(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67 of the IT Act. As the charges are non-bailable, the court will hear his bail application.
During police questioning, Chemmanur denied any wrongdoing, explaining that his comments, which were allegedly sexually charged, were based on mythology and not intended maliciously. He also suggested that the complaint arose from a misunderstanding of double entendre.
The investigation team is currently seeking Honey Rose’s confidential statement, and once obtained, further charges may be added. Chemmanur was apprehended in Wayanad, and his arrest was officially recorded in Kochi. The complaint, which Rose initially raised on social media, accused Chemmanur of stalking and making inappropriate remarks about her across various platforms. Rose later thanked the Kerala Chief Minister and police for their swift action in supporting her.
