Sharjah Literature Festival to Begin on January 17, Celebrating Literature and Culture

Sharjah is set to welcome writers, readers, and literary enthusiasts from around the world as the Sharjah Literature Festival kicks off on January 17. Running through January 21, the festival will celebrate literature and artistic talent, bridging cultural gaps and fostering a love for reading and writing.

This year’s festival promises exciting events, including book launches, literary workshops, live discussions, and special programs for children and adults. Key attractions include discussions on making literature more accessible by blending Arabic with global languages, offering a platform for Arab writers to showcase their work.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, and with guidance from Sheikha Bodur bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, the festival will be hosted by the Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) and the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA). Events will take place from 4 pm to 11 pm at the open area opposite University City Hall.

The festival will also highlight the UAE’s rich literary heritage, providing an opportunity to engage with prominent Emirati writers, thinkers, and publishers, while fostering discussions on new genres in writing and publishing. It is expected to be a vibrant blend of culture, creativity, and entertainment for literature lovers.
