The family of Jenny Alvarado, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Montalban, Rizal, faced heartbreak upon receiving the wrong remains from Kuwait. Instead of Alvarado’s body, the casket sent to them contained the remains of her Nepalese coworker, as reported by Philippine media.
Alvarado, along with her Sri Lankan and Nepalese coworkers, tragically died on January 2 due to coal suffocation caused by inhaling smoke from a heating system. However, Alvarado’s family has raised concerns of possible foul play, pointing out visible physical trauma, including bruises on her face and mouth.
The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has confirmed the deaths, while the Department of Migrant Workers is investigating the mix-up and expediting the return of Alvarado’s remains. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is also providing support to the grieving family during this distressing time.
