Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Khalifa Al-Ajeel, and Minister of Social Affairs and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, convened on Wednesday to enhance price monitoring measures and bolster the strategic stockpile. According to the Ministry of Commerce, the meeting focused on improving cooperation to support and monitor the unified electronic platform managed by the Cooperative Societies Federation, which regulates product pricing.
The ministers agreed to accelerate the digital transformation of market monitoring and develop robust inventory management strategies to ensure food security and market stability, aligning with directives from the nation’s leadership. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Gharib Al-Adhan, Chairman of the Consumer Cooperative Societies Federation.
Separately, Dr. Al-Huwailah announced the launch of a centralized automated system for social assistance. Since its inception on January 5, approximately 2,000 individuals have registered, submitting around 1,000 aid requests for needs such as rent support, medical treatment, debt repayment, and student assistance.
Charitable organizations have also activated their accounts within the system, enabling them to manage aid requests in accordance with Ministry protocols. Dr. Al-Huwailah stressed that all charitable transactions must occur exclusively through the centralized platform, with strict measures in place to ensure compliance. The Ministry’s Charitable Societies and Endowments Department regularly inspects participating organizations and assesses financial reports to maintain transparency and accountability.
This initiative aims to prevent duplication of aid while centralizing efforts to support underprivileged families. Dr. Al-Huwailah emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring assistance reaches those in need efficiently and fairly, underscoring a zero-tolerance policy for non-compliance with the system.
