Mumbai Police have apprehended Vijay Das in connection with the stabbing of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan during a burglary attempt at his residence. The accused was arrested four days after the incident at a labor camp in Thane West, where he was working at a bar.
According to police, Das has confessed to the crime, and further investigations are underway. A press conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sunday to provide additional details.
This development follows an earlier clarification by the police that a previously detained individual was not linked to the attack. The man had been questioned due to his resemblance to the suspect and for carrying a backpack similar to the one seen in CCTV footage from Khan’s building.
The 54-year-old actor sustained six stab wounds, including one near his neck, during the attack, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. outside his younger son Jeh’s room. Khan underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital and is now out of danger.
CCTV footage captured the suspect, wearing a red scarf and carrying a backpack, fleeing down the stairs from the sixth floor of the Satguru Sharan building, where Khan resides.
