Saudi Arabia Implements Mandatory Meningococcal Vaccination for Travelers

Saudi Arabia has mandated that all travelers, including those visiting for Umrah, must receive the Tetravalent meningococcal (ACYW135) vaccine at least 10 days before arrival. This requirement applies to all visa types, including tourism, business, and pilgrimage. Children under one year old are exempt from this vaccination.

Airlines have been instructed to inform passengers about this vaccination requirement, especially those arriving on Umrah visas. Travelers are advised to consult their healthcare providers to obtain the necessary vaccination and ensure they have an international vaccination certificate. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in travelers being denied entry into Saudi Arabia.

This measure aims to protect public health during large gatherings, such as the Umrah pilgrimage, where the risk of disease transmission is heightened.
