Canberra: Australia secured a thrilling six-run victory over England Women in the second T20 match of the series, played under the Duckworth-Lewis method. Batting first, Australia posted an impressive 185/5 in 20 overs. Rain intervened during England’s chase, reducing their target to 175 runs, but they fell short, finishing at 169/4.
Remarkably, Australia achieved this total without any individual scoring a half-century, setting a new record for the highest Women’s T20I score without a fifty. The previous record was held by India, who scored 181 against Australia in 2022.
For Australia, captain Tahlia McGrath top-scored with an unbeaten 48 off 35 balls, supported by Beth Mooney (41 off 31) and Grace Harris (35 off 17). Megan Schutt led the bowling attack with two wickets, while Kim Garth and Annabel Sutherland picked up one each.
England’s standout performances came from Danni Wyatt, who scored 52 off 40 balls with eight boundaries, and Heather Knight, who smashed 43 off 19 balls.
With this win, Australia claimed the three-match series 2-0. The final match is scheduled for tomorrow in Adelaide.
