The Criminal Court has sentenced a Traffic Department employee, a Kuwaiti citizen, and three stateless individuals (Bedouins) to five years in prison for their involvement in a vehicle license forgery scheme. The case involved falsifying documents for 45 vehicles, which were subsequently sold for a combined total of 437,000 dinars.
According to the Public Prosecution, the primary defendant, a public employee in the Capital Traffic Department, manipulated official electronic records. Specifically, the defendant altered the operating licenses of 45 vehicles in the General Traffic Department’s computer system by removing the term “required for installments,” which was inaccurate information.
The second to fifth defendants conspired with the primary defendant to execute the forgeries. Together, they facilitated the fraudulent sale of 54 vehicles, pocketing the proceeds reflected in the falsified records.
