The Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) in Kuwait has issued new regulations aimed at improving workers’ living conditions by establishing minimum housing standards and promoting their overall welfare.
According to the updated guidelines shared on social media, employers must ensure that each worker has a designated living space of at least a specified number of square meters, with a maximum of four workers per room. These measures are intended to minimize overcrowding and enhance the quality of living environments for workers across various industries.
Employers who cannot provide adequate housing must compensate their workers with housing allowances. Workers earning the minimum wage are entitled to an allowance equal to 25% of their salary, while those earning above the minimum wage will receive a 15% allowance.
Furthermore, employers must secure prior approval from relevant authorities and organizations before allocating housing to ensure that the accommodations comply with the required standards and are deemed suitable for workers.
