A new law in Dubai has been implemented that enforces stringent restrictions on the use of the Dubai government logo. This regulation prohibits unauthorized usage, including for commercial purposes such as advertisements or product promotions. The penalties for violating this law are severe, including prison sentences of up to five years, fines ranging from 100,000 to 500,000 dirhams, or both, depending on the severity of the infraction.
The law, which was issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aims to preserve the integrity and value of the logo, ensuring it is not misused or manipulated for personal or commercial gain. Under this regulation, it is illegal to edit, distort, or use the logo in a way that damages its status or affects the reputation of Dubai.
Furthermore, the law restricts the logo’s use to specific institutions and events authorized by the Dubai government. Only designated buildings, locations, events, and official documents may feature the emblem with permission. Additionally, the law mandates that any use of the logo must adhere to guidelines set by the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai, ensuring consistent and respectful representation of the city’s symbol. This move highlights the importance of safeguarding the dignity and reputation of the Emirate of Dubai.
