The Ministry of Commerce and Industry reaffirmed on Friday its commitment to protecting consumer rights, emphasizing that the right to return and exchange goods is safeguarded under Consumer Protection Law No. (39) of 2014. This right remains valid as long as it complies with legal regulations that ensure fairness for both consumers and sellers.
In a statement shared on its official “X” platform account, the Ministry clarified that licensed commercial discounts do not eliminate a consumer’s right to return or exchange a product. However, this process must follow the terms agreed upon at the time of purchase. Additionally, consumers must return any associated benefits or gifts, such as discount vouchers, purchase coupons, or promotional offers, to receive a refund.
The Ministry urged all parties to adhere to consumer protection laws, ensuring a transparent and fair shopping experience for everyone.
