Doha: The Qatari Ministry of Interior has announced a three-month amnesty for individuals residing in the country illegally, offering them an opportunity to leave without facing penalties. The amnesty period, which begins on February 9, is specifically for those who have violated Law 21 of 2015, which governs the entry, residence, and exit of foreign nationals in Qatar.
Who Can Benefit from the Amnesty?
Expatriates who have overstayed their visas or violated residency regulations can take advantage of this initiative to return to their home countries. Individuals wishing to leave under the amnesty must present their passport and travel ticket at Hamad International Airport or visit the Search and Follow-up Center under the Ministry of Interior between 1 PM and 9 PM to complete the necessary procedures.
Conditions and Restrictions
While this amnesty applies to those who have violated residency laws, individuals involved in other legal cases must first resolve their legal issues before being permitted to leave the country. The amnesty covers those on family visas as well.
Further details on the amnesty process are expected to be announced by the Qatari Ministry of Interior in the coming days.
