Kuwait’s Population Nears 5 Million by End of 2024, Latest Data Reveals

According to the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), Kuwait’s total population reached 4,987,826 by the end of 2024. The latest statistics highlight that 17% of the population is under 15 years old, while those aged between 15 and 64 years make up 80%. Only 3% of the population falls into the 65 and above age group.

Kuwaitis account for 31% of the total population, while Indians make up 20%, making them the largest expatriate community, followed by Egyptians at 13%. Among Kuwaiti citizens, 32% are under 15 years old, 64% fall within the 15 to 64-year age group, and 5% are 65 years or older. Gender distribution among Kuwaitis is nearly balanced, with females at 51% and males at 49%.

Regarding employment, Kuwait had a total workforce of 2,247,029 in both the public and private sectors. The public sector employed 517,022 individuals (23%), while the private sector accounted for 1,730,007 workers (77%). Kuwaitis formed the majority of government employees at 77.52%, while among non-Kuwaiti government workers, Egyptians comprised 7.25%, followed by Indians at 4.42%.

In the private sector, Indians were the largest workforce at 31.1%, followed by Egyptians at 25.4%, whereas Kuwaitis represented only 4.1% of private-sector employees.
