Palakkad Records India’s Highest Temperature at 38°C – More Heat to Come

According to Dr. M.S. Sreejith, Senior Scientist at Mundur IRTC, Palakkad has been experiencing similar high temperatures over the past three years. In February 2024, the district had already recorded 39.5°C, highlighting a worrying trend. He attributes this early temperature rise to the Palakkad Gap, a geographical feature that influences the region’s climate.

Heatwave and Future Projections

With summer intensifying early, residents and workers in Palakkad and other heat-prone areas should take precautionary measures to avoid heat-related illnesses.
