Manama: Bahraini authorities have arrested four Bangladeshi expatriates for illegally fishing in a protected marine area. The operation, conducted following an investigation by the Public Prosecution, led to the seizure of 364 kilograms of crab, along with two boats and fishing equipment.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted they were catching crabs for commercial purposes. The seized crabs were later sold at a public auction, with proceeds allocated to the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs.
The arrests underscore Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal fishing and protect its marine resources.
