Muscat: An Indian truck driver, Mohammed Faraz, has been sentenced to two years in prison and deportation for causing a fatal accident in Oman that claimed four lives and injured 15 others.
The accident occurred in May last year in Liwa, in the northern Batinah governorate. Investigations revealed that Faraz was speeding and driving in the opposite direction, leading to the tragedy.
The Liwa Wilayat Preliminary Court found him guilty of reckless driving and endangering lives. In addition to the prison sentence, the court suspended his driving license for one year and ordered the verdict’s publication in Arabic and Hindi. After serving his sentence, he will be permanently deported from Oman.
