Kuwait has experienced its coldest February day in six decades due to a powerful Siberian polar cold wave sweeping across the country. Meteorologist Issa Ramadan reported that the temperatures in Mataraba and Salmi plummeted significantly, with a perceived temperature of -8°C and -6°C, respectively. The actual recorded minimum temperatures in these areas were -1°C, while Kuwait City experienced a perceived temperature of 0°C and an actual low of 8°C.
According to Ramadan, this extreme cold spell is among the most severe February cold waves Kuwait has witnessed in 60 years, particularly in desert regions. The drastic drop in temperatures is a rare occurrence, highlighting the impact of the Siberian weather system on the region.
The climate data from the Meteorology Department confirms that this unusual temperature decline is unprecedented for February. The cold wave has intensified across Kuwait, affecting daily life and emphasizing the unpredictability of extreme weather patterns in the region.
