Starting today, Sunday, government ministries and agencies will implement an evening shift system for selected employees, as per the guidelines provided by the Civil Service Bureau. This move is in line with the Cabinet’s decision to enhance the work environment in the public sector and offer greater convenience for citizens and residents by extending office hours. The new system allows individuals to complete transactions during evening hours, thereby simplifying procedures and improving access to services at times that are more convenient for the public.
According to sources, while most government agencies that already operate on a shift system have assigned a limited number of employees to work the evening shift, others have fewer units working during this time. The Civil Service Bureau has established specific regulations for evening work, including a set of conditions that ensure no more than 4.5 working hours per evening, with shifts starting no earlier than 3:30 pm. Flexible working hours do not apply to employees on the evening shift, as per the established rules.
