Doha: The Qatari Cabinet has given its approval to a draft law establishing regulations for drone usage, with the proposal now forwarded to the Shura Council for further review. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
The legislation aims to ensure the safety of air traffic, safeguard public lives and property, and outline the roles and responsibilities of relevant authorities. It also promotes the necessity of drone use while encouraging innovation and investment in this sector.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a proposal to classify areas with archaeological, historical, natural, climatic, and environmental significance into designated tourist zones. This move aims to enhance the tourism sector by developing each location according to its unique attributes.
The draft laws mark a major stride in promoting safe drone usage and unlocking Qatar’s tourism potential.
