Abu Dhabi: In a heartwarming initiative under the “Happiness Patrol” project, UAE Traffic Police have been stopping drivers—not to issue tickets, but to honor those who strictly adhere to traffic rules. In one instance, a driver was pleasantly surprised when the police approached his stopped vehicle and presented him with a gift, explaining that he was being rewarded for his exemplary behavior on the road.
This initiative, which has now recognized around 60 drivers across the Emirates, aims to promote road safety and positive driving habits. Previously, the program has distributed free fuel cards, awarded “Star of Honor” badges, and even given away large TV sets. In the latest campaign in Al Ain, more than a dozen drivers received paper bags containing gifts, though the exact contents remain undisclosed.
“We will continue to reward safe drivers to set an example for others,” said Major Matar Abdullah Al Muhiri, Deputy Director of Traffic Affairs at the Security Patrol in Al Ain.
