Kuwait Enforces Stricter Penalties for Illegal Parking in Disabled Spaces

Kuwait has implemented harsher penalties for individuals who unlawfully park in designated disabled parking spaces. Under the newly enforced regulations, violators will face an immediate fine of KD 150. However, if the offense is escalated to the judiciary, the court has the authority to impose stricter consequences, including a prison sentence ranging from over one year to a maximum of three years. Additionally, offenders may be fined between KD 600 and KD 1,000, or the court may impose either punishment.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Interior’s broader efforts to uphold the rights of individuals with disabilities and encourage public awareness and compliance with designated parking regulations. The revised traffic laws aim to instill a culture of respect and responsibility among drivers, ensuring that reserved parking spaces remain accessible for those who genuinely need them. Authorities are urging motorists to adhere to these regulations, emphasizing that disabled parking spaces are strictly meant for individuals who depend on them for mobility and accessibility.
