Minister of Health Updates Drug Control Regulations with New Ministerial Decisions

Kuwait: The Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, has issued new ministerial decisions to update drug control regulations, adding several substances to the legal classification of narcotics and psychotropic substances. This move aims to enhance market oversight and protect society from drug misuse risks.

Key Updates in Drug Regulations

The Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that these new decisions align with scientific and legislative advancements in drug control. The updates include:

🔹 Ministerial Resolution No. 29 of 2025:

  • Butonitazine has been added to Schedule No. (1) under Law No. 74 of 1983, governing drug control and trade regulations.

🔹 Ministerial Resolution No. 30 of 2025:

  • Four new substances—Chloromethcathinol, Dipentelone, Fluorodeschloroketamine, and Gamma-Butyrolactone—have been included in Table No. (2) under Law No. 45 of 1987, which regulates psychotropic substances.
  • Bromazol has been added to Schedule No. (4) based on recent scientific and legal recommendations.

The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to:

✅ Preventing misuse and illegal circulation of controlled substances.
