The General Traffic Department has initiated procedures to summon speeding drivers detected by traffic control cameras, preparing to impose strict legal actions, including impounding vehicles for 60 days. This move is part of a broader effort to enhance traffic safety and curb reckless driving that endangers lives and property.
Starting April 22, 2025, violators who exceed the speed limit will face severe legal consequences, including:
- A prison sentence of 1 to 3 years
- A fine between 600 and 1,000 Kuwaiti dinars
- Or one of these two penalties, as determined by the court
Additionally, a reconciliation order allows offenders to settle fines ranging from 70 to 150 dinars, depending on the speed limit of the road and the severity of the violation.
Authorities reaffirm their commitment to strict enforcement of traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users. Motorists are urged to adhere to speed limits and drive responsibly to avoid severe penalties.
