Dubai Roads Temporarily Closed for UAE Tour Cycling Race

Dubai: Several roads in Dubai will experience temporary closures today, Friday, February 21, due to the UAE Tour cycling race. The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that certain roads will be closed for 10 to 15 minutes to facilitate the event, advising motorists to plan their trips accordingly and allow extra travel time. A total of 18 roads, including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Street, and Dubai-Al Ain Road, will be affected.

The race route begins at the American University of Dubai, with cyclists passing through key roads such as Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Naseem Street, Al Khail Road, and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. The finish line is set at Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University, covering a total distance of 160 kilometers.

This Dubai leg marks the fifth stage of the UAE Tour, which kicked off on February 17. Organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the event features 140 riders competing in the seventh edition of this prestigious race. Authorities have urged residents to stay updated on road conditions and make necessary adjustments to their travel plans.
