Kuwait Kicks Off National Day Celebrations with Flag-Raising Ceremony

Kuwait began its National Day festivities on Sunday, February 2, with a flag-raising ceremony held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. This event marks the start of celebrations for Kuwait’s 64th National Day and the 34th anniversary of Liberation Day.

The ceremony serves as the official launch of a series of events commemorating the nation’s milestones and achievements in governance, economy, and infrastructure. This year’s celebrations are particularly significant as Kuwait has been named the Arab Capital of Culture and Arab Capital of Media for 2025. These titles provide an opportunity to showcase the country’s growth in culture, media, and the arts, while fostering cultural exchange across the Arab world.

Kuwait’s national flag, officially adopted in 1961, symbolizes the nation’s identity and values through its colors: black, white, red, and green. Public buildings and streets throughout the country are decorated with the flag and images of the Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, as Kuwait honors its history and reflects on its past sacrifices, particularly during the liberation from foreign aggression.

The celebrations not only honor Kuwait’s independence but also serve as a reminder of the unity and resilience of its people, inspiring progress and cooperation for the future.
